HER STORY
In August of 2008, a black mole on the bottom of Karlie's foot tested positive for Malignant Melanoma - Skin Cancer. Since it was on the bottom of her foot, the mole is considered genetic and not from sun exposure. In September, she had an operation to remove the mole plus some cancerous lymph nodes in her upper thigh. Extensive treatment began in November and will continue until December 2009. Karlie has qualified for financial aid which requires her to only work 10 hours a week. As family and friends we are uniting together to help with living expenses. We are doing auctions (both silent and loud) and will be putting pictures and descriptions of the products on here for you to bid on. Just click on comment, and put in your bid. No one will be able to see it but us. :) So, check here often for updates and new items to bid on.

Karlie's Letter of Thanks

To All My Bloggers! Where to start.... Well I'm glad that I can actually walk like I used to. I almost forgot what it was like to be "normal" and wear high heels again, which is what I have been doing this last week. It has been a long 8 months of only wearing flats. I sleep WAY more than I should, so no complaint there. I have had a few episodes where I fall asleep in a split second, again no complaint on my end, but I’m sure someone does! I never thought that eating would be a problem, but there is. It’s just not the same anymore. I still love food! I have always looked at life that everything happens for a reason. What this reason might be… I would hope to spread the word that Melanoma does exist and you have to be careful whether you are in the sun or not. Hence mine is hereditary! I am glad I am going through it now, because I know it will make me stronger for what ever happens later in life. I would like to take a moment and thank every one for all of their support and donations. It is greatly appreciated. It is always good to know that there are good people out there, like me, who want to help and do what they can. I am also excited for the event held on my behalf on June 13th I am sure it will be a blast! Thanks again! Karlie

Spread the word

It’s hard to ask for help, it’s not something Craig and I like to do, but now I guess we are to the point where we can’t do this on our own. I’ll start by telling you that Craig and I have tried to do it on our own, not wanting to ask for help. We did as much as we could, for the most part, but there is only so much we can do on our own. I will start tomorrow to work 2 hours a day, five days a week. This is so that I can keep my financial aid for my medical bills. My treatments may start to become more severe the next couple of months. The fund raiser is to help us pay for our living expenses until I can go back to work, hopefully in October or November.
I am honestly taking a big swallow of pride and asking you from the bottom of my heart, if there is anything you can do to help, I would really appreciate it. If all you can do is spread the word, I’ll take it!
I want people to know what is going on. I want others to know that it is very possible for this to happen to them. I never in a million years, thought that this would happen to me. However, I am glad it did. It’s a challenge that I know I can overcome, and at the same time learn every step of the way.
I want everyone to remember the fundraiser on June 13th. Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Karlie Walker Wilcox
